Guys, you remember that horrible story of a lady that was gang raped supposedly in ABSU 2011, a heinous crime that provoked a public outcry?
On August 16th, 2011, at Abia State University (ABSU), a woman whose age is between 16-22 was gang raped by 5 men.
A video recording of the gang rape was made. In the video, you hear the victim pleading, even asking them to kill her rather than subject her to the gruesome ordeal, with the rapists responding by asking her if she isn’t ‘enjoying it’, and bragging about their staus.
Good news is the true identities of the hoodlums involved in the gang rape have been unmasked.
And both rapists and their victim hail from Obite town in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, not ABSU students as earlier believed.
According to a police crime report, detectives from Rivers State C.I.D had on September 7, 2012 traced the husband of the victim to Obite town, while working on an intelligence report.
It said the man, who was simply as Mr. S in the police report, was “initially reluctant but later obliged detectives with the true story behind the rape” hence it was possible for the police to crack the nut.
“He confirmed that the victim was actually his wife and that all the perpetrators of the act were from the same community as himself,” the report said.
The detectives were said to have “painstakingly traced the identity of the suspects leading to the arrest of Uchenna Ukulor, Chizoba Nwosu and Nwazuo Nmezi, while the fourth suspect is still at large.
The police said that after the victim and her husband were invited to the State C.I.D and the video clip was played in the presence of the suspects “it was glaringly established that the three suspects along with the one other still at large, carried out the most heinous act of rape and went ahead to place it on the social media.”
The suspects have already been charged at Magistrate Court 9, Port Harcourt “for acts of conspiracy and rape”.
The Abia State Government thursday praised the police for that thorough investigation, saying it has proved that the rape allegation was the handiwork of our detractors who wanted to rubbish the image of the state and its university.
